Here is a copy of the candida diet chart we talked about in the workshop (depending on how bad your problem is, you should stick to it for a month up to 6 months), plus the follow-up notes we sent out.
********************
Let us know if you guys want to get together in a month or so and compare notes about your progress!
Here are some of the topics and resources we discussed in the workshop:
Candida overgrowth happens when 2 problems converge – too much sugar for the yeast to eat, and too little immune response (in the form of your own immune cells + the help of “good” bacteria that inhabit your gastrointestinal tract).
Boost your immune system as much as possible. This means limiting exposure to chemicals in cleaning products, soaps, shampoos, make-up, perfumes, etc. Stress also weakens your immune system, so relax, meditate, do yoga.
Drink lots of chlorine-free water (chlorine kills “good” bacteria). If you don’t have a filter you can leave the water in the fridge overnight, leave it in the sun on the windowsill for an hour, or pour it back and forth from glass to glass a few times.
Fatty foods are good at fighting sugar cravings – keep some nuts with you.
A note on the “high glycemic index” foods in the “up for debate” column on the handout you got – high glycemic index means that the sugar in the food becomes available to your body very quickly. In the case of something like a parsnip though the *total* amount of sugar contained in the food isn’t all that much. So even though it becomes available quickly it’s still not all *that* bad. It’s probably OK to eat small amounts of those foods once in a while when on the diet, but use your discretion.
Also, here’s a fun/gross body ecology test: first thing in the morning before you do anything else, spit into a glass of water. Come back in 15-30
minutes – if there are strings growing down from the top of the water you have problems.

Here is a link to Amber’s almond milk recipe – just don’t add agave and it’s totally candida-diet friendly. http://www.behivethrives.com/?p=133
More recipes coming soon! Try googling diabetic-friendly meals and you will find a lot of good stuff.
Herbs – in addition to the herbs/supplements listed on the hand-out, try oil of oregano (tincture).
Boric acid suppositories – you can make your own (vitamin stores carry empty capsules and boric acid) or buy them from http://www.rockwellnutrition.com/Yeast-Arrest-Boric-Acid-Suppositories-by-Vitanica-Non-Returnable-_p_845.html
Acidophilus suppositories – use non-coated pills that will dissolve in the vagina – like Schiff brand or GNC store brand
I just found out the HLC candaclear suppositories have been discontinued. AH! Basically though all the HLC acidophilus products are great – shipped on ice. You could make your own suppositories the same way you do with boric acid. http://www.rockwellnutrition.com/HLC-Intensive-caps-for-BV-by-Pharmax-Non-Returnable_p_1069.html
Some people use yogurt but I do not recommend because of the sugar in the milk (store brands aren’t usually so sour that *all* the sugar is gone)
When you first start the diet I recommend doing about a 2 week regimen with the suppostories – 2-3 days of boric acid followed by a day or 2 of probiotic suppositories. Keep alternating until the 2 weeks are up. Then do maintenence once a month (either around your period or whenever your most yeasty time of your cycle is) for the next 6 months or so.
Obviously also do it whenever you have a flare-up.
I have attached a list of probiotics that were tested by an independent lab and found to be good.
We talked about the importance of drinking water and staying regular. Here are some colon clense/detox programs that are gentle and work well.

No need to go all out and spend a ton of money though. Maybe just take some psillium husk pills if you have constipation problems. Drink water!
